Description: |
| Describes a process of heating wood handles sufficiently to "melt" resin and make the wood pliable enough to force into a ferrule without the use of steam. The process described in the specification claims to lessen problems of wood shrinkage and breaking, and allow for longer ferrules to increase handle strength.
An observed example includes the patent number stamped on the ferrule of a 10-tined "silage" fork. American Fork & Hoe had registered the I-D-L trademark for the "D" handle in 1925. |
