Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Electra Motors, Inc. Vintage Machinery entry for Preco Inc.
|
Description: |
This continuously variable-speed drive-belt mechanism was subsequently improved in patent 3,154,959, which was assigned to Electra Motors, Inc., of Anaheim. This patent, which was assigned to hydraulic press manufacturer Preco Inc., is intended to address the problem that in these Reeves-type continuously-variable-speed pulley systems, the mechanism was prone to sticking if it was run for a long time at a constant speed. Patents 2,256,699 (assigned to General Motors) and 2,711,103 (reissued as RE24,347, which was assigned to Miner Pulley & Transmission Co. of Denver) are mentioned as earlier attempts to address this problem. |
