Description: |
| William Kumbel was a major manufacturer of leather belting. Operating from 33 Ferry Street in New York City, he advertised across the country. The 1857 Wisconsin State Directory, page 280, has a 2/3 page ad for "Kumbel's Patent Machine Stretch Leading Banding, The only Patent Band in the U. S. These bands are made from the best Oak Leather, are thoroughly stretched, and made to run perfectly straight. They are cemented and riveted in such a manner as to make the joints stronger than the leather. And whenever the required power is great, we would recommend his INIMITABLE Double Bands, which he can make of any power within two hundred horse. Also superior Lace Leather, with rivets, burrs, punches, sets, &c. The above articles can be furnished by application to Wm. Kumbel, Patentee, 33 Ferry Street, New York." |
