Description: |
Claim:
This invention relates to a structure for supporting rigidly the extended portion of a cutting tool and is intended particularly for supporting relatively long, slender lathe cutting tools used in turning workpieces having deep narrow grooves. The improved structure consists of a tool holder and an auxiliary support bracket socketed within and cooperating with the holder to buttress the end of the tool which extends from the holder; the structure is especially adapted for turning and grooving large diameter work, for example, forming rolls which are utilized in the steel industry in rolling structural steel I-beams, channels and similar sections. |
