Description: |
| "My invention relates to holders for tools required to be operated by a direct blow like, for instance, nail pullers, chisels, nail sets and the like." The specifications describe a handle that can serve as a hammer; the "plunger" being a shank sliding within an oval tube with "anvils" at either end, and other features enabling use a combination tool. The drawing presents the tool as a nail puller.
Woods' earliest patents match products listed by the Woods Specialty Co., Granville, NY ca. 1898 - 1902. In later years, he appears in corporations associated with his patents in several places including Toronto, Cleveland, etc.
Woods' nail puller was among the products offered by Koren Mfg. Co. (Cleveland, OH) in 1917. |
