Description: |
When performing high-speed boring with non-rotating boring bar and rotating workpiece, high-pressure coolant/lubricant is used. If this boring operation is interrupted the cutter tends to vibrate which causes an oversize region in the bore, up to 0.009 inches. This vibration also occurs as the cutter breaks through the far side of the workpiece, again causing an oversize region. This invention aims to avoid that vibration and resulting over-sizing, and the specification says that the oversizing was reduced to within 0.002 inches. |
