Vintage Machinery entry for Fox Machine Co.
Description:
This is perhaps the earliest patent for a workable "universal" miter trimmer. We have a couple of reports of a "W. R. Fox" miter trimmer with this patent date on it, one of them matching this patent and the other one actually matching patent 393,970; it seems likely that the latter machine was produced after the later patent was applied for, but before it was issued. Fox founded Fox Machine Co. in 1885 to manufacture and sell that improved design.
