Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Higley Machine Co.
|
Description: |
This drilling and sawing machine was primarily intended for use on railroad rails. Wilberforce Beecher Hammond received several patents, most related to mining or fire extinguishers. We have not found any connection between him and the Higley company or company founder Eben N. Higley, except for this patent. In 1893, Hammond has sales manager at the Ticonderoga Machine Company, 126 Liberty St., New York, NY, and was responsible for manufacturing and selling the Ticonderoga Air Engine, which had been patented by Woodbury, Merrill, Patten and Woodbury. |
