Description: |
Absract:
A wrench of the kind having one jaw integral with the handle and the other hook-shaped and pivoted to it so that the jaws may engage and grip an object placed between them when the handle of the wrench is turned has, for at least one of its gripping jaw faces, the straight edge face of a semicylindrical member which can be turned along its arc shaped bearing face relative to the jaw, or jaws. A handle 1 has an integral fixed jaw 2 with a gripping face 3, and a movable jaw 5 pivoted thereto by means of a stud 4. The gripping face 6 of the movable jaw is formed of a semi-cylindrical member 9 having a circumferential tongue 10 which fits into an undercut groove formed in a corresponding recess 11 in the jaw 5. The turning movement of the member 9 is limited by a screw 12 extending into a circumferential slot 13 in the tongue 10. A circular web 15 with part of its radius reduced fits into a circular slot 14 in the handle 1 to form an arc-shaped compartment 16 into which fits a spring 17 with one end in abutment with a face 18 of the web 15 and the other face against a pin 19 extending across the compartment 16. A member similar to 9 may be fitted to the fixed jaw. |
