Description: |
This is a metal butt gage very similar to the Bodmer 1911 patent
(985,504), but with some extra marking points and adjustable
reference surface for marking lock mortises as well as hinge
mortises. It is also the first design I have found that allows
you to mark two parallel lines referencing an inside corner, such
as would be encountered in laying out the strike plate in a
rabbeted jamb.
This looks top be a very well-designed and useful tool, but is
not known to have been produced.
