Vintage Machinery entry for Nathan & Dreyfus; Nathan Mfg. Co.
1908 Patent Commissioner decision
Description:
Improvements to Giffard's injector (see British patent issued to John Robinson and James Gresham on 1864-11-10) to allow it to draw a vacuum, avoiding the need for priming it when there is air in the supply-pipe. This Gresham patent seems to have been notable: according to a 1908 Patent Commissioner decision (see link), the New York firm of Nathan & Dreyfus, later Nathan Mfg. Co., began manufacturing this design of injector in 1881, a couple of years after the patent expired.
