"Vintage Machinery" entry for Breeze, Denison & Co.
Description:
"My invention consists in the use of a disc or wheel, preferably toothed on its rim or circumference, suitably placed and revolved at sufficient speed, so that its rim or circumference may engage with the saw-dust, or shreds or splinters of wood, lodged in the teeth of the band-saw, and throw them free of the saw. The invention is especially useful in the case of band-saws used in manufacturing shingles, veneer or any other thin articles from wood."
