Description: |
Side cutter pliers or nippers formed with separate pivot points for the handles, which cross each other behind the pivot points. Side plates connect them, and they have meshing "gear" teeth to keep them synchronized.
The BERNARDS VULCAN pliers produced by the W. Schollhorn company use a modification of this patent where a third rivet connects the extended side plates, and the handles have slots to pass the rivet. The third rivet also acts to limit the jaw opening.
Corresponding U.S. patent 678,637 was granted July 16, 1901. An example of the pliers is shown in the DATAMP entry for that patent. |
