Description: |
Cylindrical plunger with compression spring as securing device for wrench sockets or extension shanks. The matching portion of the socket or extension would have a hole to allow access for a punch to retract the plunger when the parts needed to be separated. If only a temporary connection was desired, the socket or extension could be slid on with the hole out of alignment with the plunger. The edges of the related hole in the sockets or extensions does not need to be chamfered.
Alloy Artifacts notes this patent number appears on some BLACKHAWK sockets of the era.
