Description:
This patent covers a circular marking attachment for gages. It is a fairly simple idea, but it works quite well. It uses a pair of rollers attached to opposite edges of the face, allowing the gage to easily follow any convex or concave curve.

It is interesting to note that Mr. Heiran patented the rollers themselves, and not their layout. This allowed Stanley to come along a few years later and patent the same basic idea (334,308 - 1/12/1886), only using solid bumps rather than rollers.
