Description: |
This patent was improved with patent #1,530,113.
Abstract:
This invention is designed to improve what are commonly termed feather valves. It is desirable with such a valve to permit it to yield freely under pressure to uncover the valve opening; to prevent undue flexing in any part of the valve and to guide the movement without interfering with the free action of the valve. In the present structure I arrange the flexible plates in a pivot pin which oscillates as the valve is exed thus permitting a free action of the valve and at the same time guiding or holding it in proper relation to lts seat. This construction lends itself readily to a grouping of such plates in that a number of them may be readily secured to the same pivot pin, thus giving a grid effect with a simplicit of mechanism.
Claim:
In a valve, the combination of a seat; a resilient feather plate closing on the seat; a pivot pin to which one end of the feather plate is attached, said pin rocking with a flexure of the feather' plate; and a cap having a stop' surface limiting the opening movement of the feather plate.
