Description: |
Modification of Lane's earlier ratchet patent no. 969,379 to address the means of attaching wrench sockets, screw driver bits, etc. to the ratchet structure. Both patents are very similar to the James. P. Bartholomay Jan. 14, 1908 patent no. 876,680 used for the WILL B. LANE UNIQUE RATCHET wrench.
LANE'S RATCHET SCREW DRIVER AND WRENCH sets introduced by J.C. McCarty & Co. in 1910 conform to this patent. A 1914 WYETH HARDWARE (St. Joseph, MO) catalog shows a LANE UNIQUE set consisting of a ball pein hammer with provision for inserting wrench sockets and screwdriver bits in the end of the handle - the attachment means conforms to this patent. |
