Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Pettingell Machine Co.
Description: |
| An undated catalog from Pettingell Machine Co. features their No. 22 Large Bevel and Mitre Saw, "patented June 16,1910". That is not a valid patent date (since the patents are only issued on Tuesdays) and the illustrated machine is a virtually exact match to this patent drawing. The patent specification refers to the basic saw design as the "Howard saw table" (patent 183,397, and the innovation is the step in the horizontal footprint so that someone using the sliding table does not have to lean or step over the saw frame. |
