Description: |
"The present invention relates to a machine to be used for the purpose of 'stripping', so-called, file-blanks, or, in other words, to prepare them for being cut..."The inventor was a young man; he later worked for steam-engine and sawmill machinery maker Washington Iron Works of Newburgh, NY, and then he established the Coldwell Lawn Mower Company. The rights to this patent were sold to the Eagle File Works of Middletown, NY. According to an 1891 book on the history of Newburgh, this file-stripping machine "was very successful and is still in use." |
