"It is composed of a double worm or screw, of a length and size to suit convenience, made of sheet iron or other suitable material, which, being placed inside a common stove pipe or flue of a boiler, will have the effect of retaining the heat which otherwise would escape up the chimney, and of saving wood and fuel to an incalculable extent; and also of extinguishing and killing the sparks which in all cases arise from such wood and fuel. It can also be applied to locomotives and thus do away with the use of the wire tops to the chimneys or funnels..."
