Description: |
| The tool has an axle nut wrench. The patented aspect of the tool is the adjustable overall length of the bowed lever arm with its forked end, and the rest for the end of the axle. The function of the tool is to lift a light carriage axle and wheel, provide a temporary holder for the wheel, and rest the weight of the axle on the wheel.
Johnston's March 22, 1898 patent (no. 601,147) adds features and options in a multi-part version. Another version was patented July 19, 1898 (patent no. 607,439). |
