The inventor was a machinist."...the object of the invention is, first, to provide a simple and rapid means whereby what is known as the 'Richardson' cutter may be attached to and readily detached from the matching heads and the ends of spindles, and, secondly, to provide an extremely simple means of fastening the cutters on the matching head..."This cutter head is seen in a ca. 1900 catalog from Cowan & Co., where it is described as "The Cowan Patent Matching Heads, with the Richardson Patent Cutters". The Richardson cutter patent is 60,787. |
