Stan Schulz Irwin Locking Pliers (Vise-Grip) (tm)
|
Description: |
The major feature of the patent is the tabs folded into the center of the lever handle which limit the opening travel of the quick-release for toggle locking tools in patent no. 5,056,070. The patent also describes resilient cover materials for the fixed and lever handles of such tools. Used in the Vise-Grip (tm) Fast-Release (tm) toggle locking tools. The patent has extensive lists of reference patents and prior art.
The patent reflects later stages in VISE-GRIP's transition from family owned Petersen Mfg. Co. to an "asset" of a large multi-national corporation. In that transition, Petersen Mfg. and the original DeWitt, Nebraska manufacturing plant were "liquidated." In 2015, the patents also appear on CRAFTSMAN (tm) branded locking pliers.
