Description: |
The inventor, John Francis Nunns, was brother to Robert Nunns of the New York City piano maker Nunns & Clark. See my writeup for patent 9,526.
The brothers John Francis Nunns, Robert Nunns and William Nunns were all piano makers in New York. John's primary business seems to have been sheet music but he was involved as a non-partner in the piano-making business. Nunns & Clark are considered to be important pianoforte makers in that era when the piano was rapidly evolving, so a lot has been written about them.
Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered. Little is known about this patent. There are no patent drawings available. This patent is in the database for reference only. |
