Description: |
The design revisits the idea of an adjustable jaw wrench operated by a slide. Marketed as the "CRESCENT(R) RAPIDSLIDE(TM)," in 8 and 10 inch lengths. The catalog numbers (as of Dec., 2007) are AC10NKWMP (10 inch) and AC8NKWMP (8 inch). The photo was copied from the CooperTools web site (www.cooperhandtools.com).
The patent specifications cite previous relevant art, including the July, 1961 and March, 1964 SCHLOTE patents (nos. 2,993,398 and 3,125,911). The internal workings of the adjustment mechanism -- including the secondary sleeve to close the adjusting slot -- resemble the Dec. 10, 1929 G. F. Schlote patent (no. 1,739,182). The side plate giving access to the internal adjusting mechanism resembles Kenneth F. Hall's January 19, 1971 patent (no. 3,555,939). |
