Description:
The patent is for a supplemental outside lever, and wedge on the outside of one pliers jaw, which combine to increase the frictional force of the matching faces of the two pliers jaws, thereby locking them in position.

The reason for this lock is maintain the jaw grip on pairs of wires while they are twisted together.
