|
Description: |
The basic combination is a small pliers incorporated into a pocket knife. The other capacities anticipated in the patent include wire cutters, screwdriver, leather awl, washer cutter, leather lacing cutter, caliper rule, and tweezers. The patent marking appears on the "pliers handle" close to the pivot. Some examples also include markings for pat. no. 606,547.
One known example is fitted with Imperial blades, but the "correct" blade is marked O. BARNETT TOOL CO. NEWARK NJ. The example pictured has a screwdriver blade incorporated into the middle web of the knife frame. The overall length is 4 1/4 inches.
The knife was widely marketed in mechanics and trade journals in the early 20th Century. |
