Description: |
The patent describes a wedge-adjusting mechanism that is an improvement on a similar mechanism incorporated in Peterson's November 3, 1908 patent (no. 902,830). A screw and spring between the wedge segments facilitates rapid adjustment.
The wrenches incorporating the adjustment mechanism described in this patent are marked Patent Nov. 3, 1908. One known example matches this patent drawing; another has a different form of "adjusting nut."
Corresponding Canadian patent CA-120,753 was granted Sept. 28, 1909.
A 1910 volume on Swedish immigrants to the U.S. (in Swedish) includes a bio. of Axel W. Peterson, noting his background and this wrench. The article notes his brother Herman was a partner in the wrench company. |
