Description: |
This important and influential bentwood chair design was well ahead of its time. Although the patent was lost in the 1836 patent-office fire and not restored afterwards, several examples of the chair survive. The magazine "Antiques" had an article, "The Incredible Elastic Chairs of Samuel Gregg" by Michael Podmaniczky, in its May 2003 issue (pp 138-145). The February 2006 issue of "Woodwork" magazine has an article on the Gragg chair on the back page. |
