Joel Havens Biography of Amos Whittemore
|
Description: |
Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered.
Williams, Whittemore & Co. was a partnership between Amos and his brother William, and Robert Williams of Boston, MA.
This patent was renewed by an Act of Congress on 03 Mar 1809. At that time William Whittemore was added as a patentee.
In 1799, Joseph Dyer, a patent agent, set out for England and Europe to introduce Whittemore's patent machine to Europe and obtained patents for it there.
Whittemore sold the rights for his machine in 1825 for $150,000. |
