Description: |
"It is well known that in log-sawing, after the slab has been severed and the log is being withdrawn, the teeth of the saw impinge upon the log upon one side only of the saw, and, besides being a useless contact, it is apt to dull the saw and put the teeth out of set."My invention is designed to avoid this useless and damaging contact when the log is being backed by slightly withdrawing the saw and frame, through the medium of a foot-lever or other proper mechanism, from its proximity with the log, and by providing mechanism which will automatically force the saw and frame again into position after the log has been backed, and also locking the same into operative position as soon as the force is released." |
