Description: |
This patent is a "push button" and thumb lever combination mechanism to retract the jaw of a self-adjusting pipe wrench. Jackson's specifications call this an improvement on his earlier patent no. 668,645 (Feb. 26, 1901), but the moveable jaw shown in this patent is different than the jaw shown in Jackson's previous patents 668,645 (Feb. 26, 1901) and no. 650,974 (June 5, 1900). Ads for the Jackson Self Adjusting Pipe Wrench note this patent's "thumb button" feature appears only on the small sizes.
Corresponding British patent GB-190109923 was registered May 13, 1901; corresponding German patent DE-138692 was granted to the W.W. Whitehead Co. |
