Description: |
Adjusting "rosette" with projections matching notches in the wrench shank - designed to transfer strain to the wrench shank, relieving strain on the ferrule. The drawing shows three "bearing" rings on the rosette (as in patent no. 40,590) compared to two in patent no. 41,747.
Loring Coes' name appears as signatory at the end of the specifications. Coes used the patent in the 1870s MECHANICS WRENCH (with two "bearing rings"). The patent is the central focus in "LORING COES vs. THE COLLINS CO." (January, 1882). |
