The design has a patent office receipt stamp dated January 25, 1868. It was converted into trademark No. 0029573 by a filing dated Oct. 31, 1896 and registered Feb. 9, 1897.
Based on a brief study of American axe history, this is likely related to the Harvey Mann June 3, 1862 axe patent (no 35480). |
