Description:
This patent is of particular interest because inventor A. Perin is believed to be the man who developed the first practical bandsaw blade. Although a number of bandsaw patents have been issued before this time, lack of good blades rendered these saws impractical until Perin's improvements in the early 1860s; they made their way across the Atlantic by the late 1860s.

This patent covers a screw-feed for the carriage; details of the upper blade guides; and the blade-tensioning mechanism.
