Description:
From "Journal of the Franklin Institute", summarizing this patent: "There are so many patented mortising machines, that nothing is left for new ones but to vary the modes of making the adjustments for holding the stuff, advancing it, and working the chisels; and these minor arrangements are rarely of sufficient importance to merit particular description. Such is the case in the present instance."
