Description:
The ratchet ring and pawl allow the wrench to turn either to left or right. The adjustable jaws attached to the ratchet ring allow the wrench to handle a wide range of sizes. The jaws' position is held by bolts tightened by thumb nuts. The patent specifications differentiate this adjustable ratchet from L.D. Gilman's August 5, 1856 patent (no. 15482) and George Meader's January 17, 1865 patent (no. 45931).
