Description:
This is one of the most complicated and incomprehensible butt gages ever produced. It has the usual complement of marking arms, plus a built in arm to allow the width of the mortise to be marked, plus a built in try/square and bevel square.

Of particular interest on this patent is the registration mechanism used to ensure that the blade locks square when used as a try square.
