Description:
The patent includes the shape of the main shank, the construction of the movable jaw, and the reinforcing within the handle web. Used in conjunction with design patents D33,468 and D34,136 in the PERFECT HANDLE nut wrench manufactured by the H.D. Smith Company of Plantsville, CT.

William S. Thomson's August 8, 1911 forging and dies patent (no. 1,000,050) describes a method for forming the head and shank. Shepard's June 27, 1905 patent no. 793,324 describes the adjusting nut and movable jaw.

These can also be found marked "RUSSWIN," distributed by the Russell and Erwin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT. Based on the timing of advertisements and other clues, Russell and Erwin were probably the first manufacturers.
