Description:
Known example marked R.C. BOLON PAT'D. The large hook catches on a post; a wire latch on the lever and a second wire latch on the extension of the hook alternately are clamped and released to hold the wire as the "slack" is taken up.

Bolon displayed an earlier version based on patent no. 554,765 at the 1896 Iowa State Fair.
