Description:
In "Palmer Hamilton vs. Caleb Ives and George B. Green", this inventor sued Ives and Green for infringing his patent, which covers a mechanism for providing the saw "in its downward movement a rocking or rolling motion". The defendants argued that where the patent drawing showed the guides vertical, their saw had the lower end of the guides two inches forward of plumb. The defendants lost both in trial and on appeal and was required to pay costs.
