Description:
Emerson was founded in 1890 by Charles and Alexander Meston. John Wesley Emerson was their principal investor. In 1892 they reportedly sold the first electric fans in America. From about 1948 Emerson began making tools and machinery for Sears, Roebuck & Co. In 1962 Emerson became the primary supplier of such products to Sears, and that relationship continued until 1998.
