Description:
"Friction" ratchet, with a curved surface on a stud on the handle binding against the outside surface of the driven member. This could drive a drill or wrench sockets. A pin inserted in the frame limits motion of the handle, so the ratchet grip only works in one direction.

This patent is noted in E. H. Reed's March 9, 1897 patent (no. 578,421).
