Description:
According to the 1889 Providence Directory, this patent was licensed by Thurston, Green & Co., operators of the Providence Steam Engine Co., who used this poppet valve-gear design until 1855. They sued Corliss for infringement of this patent but lost and had to pay $106,000 in legal costs.
