Description:
XC patents are Canadian patents issued between 1824 and 1869.

"It consists in the carriage being only about one-third the weight of those now in use; in the omission of the gig wheel, in the case of water mills, and the substitution of the cog, or band wheel, in place thereof, the same being thrown in and out of gear by a lever which reverses the motion of the carriage in gigging back."
