Description:
Combined nippers and horseshoe nail clincher. A Dec. 26, 1863 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN writeup for the the tool includes one detail not mentioned in the patent specifications -- a motion limit stop between the handles so the nipper jaws do not dull each other during the nail clinching operation. The specifications do mention an optional spring to help open the jaws.
