Description:
Crank-driven tire bolt wrench with a rotating socket head for several sizes of nuts and a cross arm at the end of the "handle" to rest on wheel spokes and stabilize the wrench. Known examples have no visible markings; manufacturer attributions taken from period advertisements, etc.

Alva Worden's Nov. 26, 1889 tire bolt wrench patent 415,761 had an adjustable socket type structure on a similar frame.

John S. Lang is listed as "blacksmith, horseshoer and carriage maker" in an 1886 Ypsilanti City Directory. Alva Worden and other members of the Worden family lived across the street from Lang's shop.
