Description:
Each opening of a flat wrench with multiple "notches" fits two sizes. Wrenches conforming to and citing this patent were marketed in the later 1860s.

Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" cites a hardware catalog listing crediting production to the Russell and Erwin Mfg. Co., New Britain, CT.

Many malleable iron "implement wrenches" were made with double-size openings like those described in this patent.
