Description:
Adam Dunns seems to have been the primary inventor. His occupation was "gardener". "Claim—As a new article of manufacture, a rake having its head stamped out of one piece of sheet metal, which is concaved throughout its length, and has saw shaped teeth wich are beveled on the under side to form a cutting edge..." This patented rake was seen in the 1902 Shurly & Dietrich catalog, as "Adam Dunn's Patent Lawn Rake", "Patented in Canada and other Foreign Countries". It was priced at $10 per dozen. "It is the only Rake made that will remove dandelion heads, or any other weeds of like nature, and by preventing them from maturing and re-seeding will in a season or two completely eradicate them from the lawn." Over 120 years later, this style of rake is still available.
