Description:
The inventor had co-founded machine-tool maker Wight & Powell, which became A. M. Powell & Co. in 1881 and then was sold in 1884 and reorganized as the Powell Machine Tool Co., which in 1886 was absorbed by Pond Machine Tool Co., and then the following year our inventor established a new firm, the Powell Planer Co. It's not clear which of these companies, if any, used this lathe patent.
